Problem with special chars in SMTP password

  • Hi there

    A password with the following special chars didn’t work with WP Mail SMTP > 0.11.2:
    %<-+.

    Can you fix this please?

    Which version exactly are you on? It seems you are on 1.0.x.

    In 1.1.0 there was a fix regarding passwords sanitization. After that it should work (we stopped processing passwords).

    A bit true. Tested it and I had to reenter the password and to save it new. Then it worked. The update itself didn’t fixed it. (neither from 0.11.x to 1.2.1 nor from 1.0.x to 1.2.1)

    Yes, correct. Password in 1.0.x branch once saved was saved incorrectly when special characters are there. And upgrades do nothing with that stored data as we just don’t know whether it is required or not.
    You would need to resave to fix, that you have successfully done.
