problem with sorting products

On a standard WooCommerce installation with no additional plugins and using the default Storefront theme, the products’ filtering on the shop page includes a “Sort by latest” option, which will show the recently added products on top.

That said, could you specify which tool are you using to sort products on your site? Additionally, please provide us with a System Status (WooCommerce → Status → Get system report → Copy for support), so we can check your environment.

As a general recommendation, be sure to update your WooCommerce version, and also the database, under WooCommerce → Settings → Tools → Update database, to make sure your plugin installation and database match. Be sure to back up the site before this procedure.

Next, if the above doesn’t fix the issue right away, you will want to perform a conflict test, since the problem is most likely caused by a conflict with your theme, with a custom code or with another plugin. You can follow these steps:

* Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
* Remove any custom code and disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
* Check the product filters again, preferably under incognito mode.

If you don’t see the problem after that, next reactivate the theme and plugins one by one, testing after each reactivation, until you find the one that was causing the conflict. Note: If you can’t do the conflict test on your live site, I recommend creating a staging site. If your host doesn’t offer that option, we recommend WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

I’ve also checked this on my test site which has the latest versions of WooCommerce and WordPress with the default Storefront theme active, and I can’t reproduce the same.

I did everything as above which is woocommerce update, database and plugins compatibility check.

To clarify, have you tried switching theme to Storefront AND deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce? As I can’t reproduce the issue on my test site, this is likely caused by something that is unique to your site, such as plugin or theme. If you have applied any custom code, please make sure to temporarily disable that too.

3.The sorting shows products in the order from A-Z.

This sorting can take effect when you select Default Sorting (custom ordering + name) in Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalogue > Default product sorting

Seems then that it is resolved by changing to the default Storefront theme, so it is most likely a theme issue.
