So far, I haven’t had to worry about Site Kit. Everything changed after the last update of the plugin on 13.03. According to Analytics, my site has 0 visits, which is not correct. There are no problems with the other Ad Sense and Search Console modules, they give accurate data. Would you look to know how to solve this problem?

Many thanks for opening an individual support topic. From checking your site manually and when using tagassistant.google.com I can see visits to your site are being recorded, with the same property as shown below:

From inspecting the Google Analytics snippet on your site it’s not a standard Site Kit placed snippet, with a “defer” attribute present and the snippet location differing to a standard Site Kit placement. This however doesn’t seem to be blocking reporting.

So we can determine more on this and confirm this isn’t specific to Site Kit can you share the following:

    • When you open a 7 day report within Site Kit do you see any traffic within the Site Kit dashboards?
    • When you click on the Analytics follow through link (within the Site Kit dashboard) you’ll be directed to the same reporting period metrics on analytics.google.com. Do you see any traffic from here?
    • When you open the Analytics real time reporting tool and then visit your site while not logged in, as a regular visit to your site, do you see any traffic?
    • Feel free to share screenshots of the above if you wish, using a service such as Imgur or JumpShare.

While we’re limited to Site Kit plugin support you can also check with the Analytics product experts at the Google Analytics Help Center. They may be able to provide further insights.

And the Google Analytics accounts have the same data – no actual visits. With the real-time tool, the reading is zero when I’m on the site.

Sorry to hear that @pyanev. In that case the issue is not that Site Kit isn’t reporting incorrect information, it’s more a case that something is blocking reporting at Analytics level.

Before directing you to the Google Analytics support forums have you tried using a default Site Kit placed Analytics snippet? If you want to remove the snippet currently placed on your site, or remove any modifications to your current Google Analytics snippet (ie. without the defer attribute) you can check the real time reporting tool once more, while visiting your site. If we can determine your site visits are then being recorded we can use this Site Kit placed snippet and perform further checks.

Looks like you were right. After I removed the Defer argument, the data started coming in. In fact, the sequence of information flow is as follows: the js files of the WP Site Kit submit the information from the current state of the site to the Google Analytics Account, then the plugin reads and visualizes them in the control panel of the site. Thanks for the help!

Glad to hear that worked. Great for you to also confirm this, should other users encounter the same!

If you have any further queries be sure to get in touch. And as it sounds like you’ve been a Site Kit user for some time it would be great if you could share your plugin feedback. Thank you!

Hello please I have been getting this error message while trying to set up google analytics on a company site,

“Error: We’ve detected there’s already an existing Analytics tag on your site (ID UA-203585508-1), but your account doesn’t seem to have access to this Analytics property. You can either remove the existing tag and connect to a different account, or request access to this property from your team.

Although Analytify is installed but I do not know if this is the issue.

    Hi there @mmuyiwa,

If you’d like to open an individual support topic as per WordPress support forum guidelines we’d be happy to assist with this. Based on your comments I suspect you may have a Google Analytics property inserted via Analytify or other means. If so you can remove this existing snippet and allow Site Kit to insert your preferred Google Analytics snippet.

We also have some documentation on this error, hosted on the plugin website.

We’ll keep an eye out on your support topic. Thank you!

Thank you. Got it resolved. I will review the support forum guidelines to avoid future mistakes asking for help on this forum. Thank you.
