I am having problems with one of my WordPress blogs. All the themes that I have downloaded from several providers returns a series of warnings concerning the functions.php of that particular theme. These themes are working well when used in my other WordPress blogs. The theme that is currently active in this problematic site is Emphaino and although there’s an update available for the theme, I didn’t update it for fear that it might suffer the same fate. Below are exampled of three different themes with the same warnings:

In the Twenty sevnteen theme there are only 568 lines in the functions.php file, whereas your errors point to 700+ lines. Perhaps that theme was modified and is now a custom theme.

The same applies to my theme (Shapely). There aren’t that many lines in the functions.php file.

Make sure what are those lines as that might be some malicious code as well.

I just compared my functions.php file with a freshly downloaded twenty seventeen theme and there indeed are additional lines after line 567!

@anevins, thanx for this. I’ve cleaned up my site and did a fresh reinstall. For now, the theme is clean and no problems encountered. I will be observing this tomorrow as I will finish configurations.

Good to hear your themes are clean, however the hacker has probably left a backdoor in your website so they can add the same malware again. It’s good to remove the malware, but that might just be the symptom of the problem. So yes worth being aware of that and re-visiting the backdoor problem in the near future.
