Problem with Search Console

  • Hi, from the Google search console I have these two errors on the Sitemap for Google News:
    “Invalid publication label”
    “Missing <publication> tag”

    How can I solve it?

  • Hi, have you been accepted into Google News? If not, please submit for inclusion via your Publisher Center https://publishercenter.google.com/publications

    Make sure to use the exact same name in your news sitemap settings as you used to submit as news source.

    Hi, I was added to Google News years ago, and my site is still active in Google News.

    OK, checked your news sitemap and the response is correct. The publication tag is there for all news items.

    It might be that Google encountered a 404 page or a 500 response for some reason (too much traffic?) at one point. You can either wait for the error to disappear or you can remove and re-submit the news sitemap in Console. The last option will probably not clear the error right away but should invite the search engine to revisit the sitemap sooner than normal.
