Sometimes I have an image post that shows just one image.
I’d like a preview of that image to show up on the homepage of my blog.

On the demo of Senses Lite I read:
    Image Post Format
Normally the first image tag in the post could be considered the image. Alternatively, if the post consists only of a URL, that will be the image URL and the title of the post (post_title) will be the title attribute for the image. You can also use the Featured Image as your first one, then add more photos to your content.

I thought this meant that, with a one-image-only post, the (only) image tag is considered the image and used for the preview. However, this didn’t work.
Second, I only used the URL of the picture, thinking this image would be used as image (it did, on the one-post page), but not on the homepage.

So I decided to set a Featured Image for this post, and used only an ‘non breaking space’ as content for the post. This way a preview was shown, and on the post page I got my image, but of course with the title below.

    Is there another way?

I should probably re-write that for this theme because that description is what the WordPress Codex documentation says about the Image Post Format, but I thinking this is really dependent on the theme being used…

For Senses Lite, the image you see like on the demo website for this theme is actually the “Featured” image and not the first image or image URL in the post. HERE is an introduction to the Image Post Format in Senses.

Usually themes customize the style of the various post formats in WordPress, but at times, it can result in something completely different…for example, Senses Lite (even the pro version). There has been discussions about post formats and if there should be a “standard” style and functionality applied (and enforced), but this has not been looked into yet by the core developers of WordPress.

What were you wanting to achieve with the image post format in layout and style?

Well, I’m quite happy with what I get now…
Once or twice a month on Wednesday, I just post a picture titled ‘Wordless Wednesday’.
I’d like to see at least part of the image on the excerpt page, like when I set an featured image for an Image post.

It would be nice if on the postpage, the title would be above the image, but I have to admit that maybe with the title underneath the picture (see link below), the ‘wordlessness’ of the post is stressed ;-).

Thanks for the link….I’m guessing everything is OK then?

One option you have is to insert your image into the post content instead of using the Image Post format with the featured image setting, and use just the standard post format. I know some have done that before because they wanted more of a standard blog post, but just with an image. Doing that would put the title above the image, as well when viewing the full post view.

Everything OK on this aspect… but I’ve already posted another question… ??
