    After I pay with paypal and click the “return to merchant” button on Paypal’s page, I am back to my website seeing the summary of the order. But I am not logged in, and the item I just paid for is still in my cart.

    See this video: https://www.loom.com/share/904c278fe81e42f9a571c45c70d161c6

    The reason is probably that I use a customized button to add products into my cart instead of letting users go to the actual product page.

    Here is the TL;DR background: Mine is a course website built with Learndash. For each course I create a course product and they are linked by a plugin provided by learndash. On my course list page https://s.fbny.org I use quick buttons to add the corresponding products into cart, as shown in this screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/YcssV43. However, it seems to me adding product this way will trigger the problem shown in the video, because I have tried going to the shop page https://s.fbny.org/shop and checkout a product normally, and there isn’t this problem – after I click “return to merchant” and go back to my website, I will stay logged in the cart is cleared.

    Anyone knows about this problem and how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

  • Hi @shenkwen

    Thanks for sharing the video recording and the screenshot.

    You mentioned that adding products in that particular way is triggering the problem, but not if you checkout a product normally.

    Keeping this in mind I would recommend checking whether you have a caching plugin and then purging all cache from it. Next, you’ll want to configure the plugin not to cache the cart, checkout, and My Account pages. Here’s a helpful guide – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/configuring-caching-plugins/

    Secondly you may want to contact Learndash team to check if their plugin is doing any caching and ask them to disable it.

    I hope this helps!

    I double check my plugins and couldn’t find any related to caching.
    If it’s a caching issue, why it doesn’t occur when I checkout normally?

    @shenkwen

    Assuming it’s a regular WooCommerce product that’s not integrated with Learndash, does the issue still occur?

    For some reason I can’t reproduce this problem at this time. I will keep this post updated once I encounter it again.

    @shenkwen

    Glad to hear it – thanks for letting us know!

    I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have any further questions, I recommend creating a new thread.
