    Hi there,

I am obviously missing something, because others seem to have got this working, but I am trying to install WordPress twice onto the same domain, once in the root folder and once in a sub-folder, and there are some weird glitches, mostly to do with pages.

I have separate databases for the two installations!

The install itself is fine and I have been able to install and use plug-ins happily on both versions. However, when I come to add new pages, they are interpreted as being pages of the site on the root of the domain and not pages within the site on the sub-folder. For example, the Home Page is fine (I am using the Grunge theme from iThemes with a static home page), but clicking on the About page takes me to the About page on the main site, even though the link appears correct in the status bar before clicking.

When I try to include a new page with a different name to any of the pages on the main site, I just get a “Page Not Found” error from the main site, even though (again) the URL appears to be correct.

    What am I missing here?

Should I use a single database with a different prefix rather than a separate database?

    Any other ideas?

The main site URL is https://www.thereign.net, the sub-site is https://www.thereign.net/cotr (or https://www.rockeucharist.co.uk).

    Thanks in advancem
    David

  • looks like it is the redirect messing things up to me

Do you mean the web re-direct to the rockeucharist.co.uk domain name?

I get exactly the same issues whether I go to the site via the re-direct or direct to the correct URL … or am I misunderstanding your answer?

    WordPress doesn’t like redirects much

    let’s do some testing
rename or delete the .htaccess from the /cotr folder
    how does it work now?
if works – reset permalinks and check
if same problem do the same with root .htaccess and check

    Aaaaahhh!

Sorted … there actually wasn’t a .htaccess file in the /cotr folder at all. Created one, and everything is now working peachy.

    Thanks for that.
