Problem with Jetpack 4.5 update, it crashed my site
-
Hi,
I have read related posts about new update of Jetpack plugin.
I have the same problem, it was automatically updated on Wednesday, at midnight, and then my site was offline.
I uninstall the plugin by FTP, deleting the folder.
Then, I downloaded 4.5 version in official page, unzipped and copied into plugins folder.
I can see in ‘Installed plugins’ Jetpack plugin installed, but not activated, I try to activate it but it throws’fatal error’, no more info.
I have debug mode in wp-config, like you said in other post, but in my debug.log file it doesn’t print nothing interesting.
Now, I installed the last backed up version of the plugin, Version 4.4.2, and then I activated it, without problems.
I have my site in a mess, I think some CSS files are crashed and I don’t know how to recover the old and good design of my website, although with an older version of the plugin…some ideas? I need some help… :SThanks in advance.

get_currentuserinfo
function, so that function is most likely added by another plugin or theme on your site.It won’t cause a Fatal Error, though: as noted in the beginning of the line, it’s a PHP Notice. It’s only meant as a recommendation, it doesn’t actually break anything.

This is a call made when you load the Jetpack Dashboard, so Jetpack can check the status of the Akismet connection on your site and return data about the number of spam blocked. That call will appear in your logs every time you turn on
WP_DEBUG
and load the Jetpack dashboard. It consequently isn't what's causing the issues on your site either.Since your
debug.log
file doesn't help us here, I would recommend looking at your general PHP error logs on that server to try to understand what's happening. If you're not sure where to find those logs, your hosting provider should be able to help.Let me know how it goes!
Now I have 4.5 version installed and activated, after few attempts and installing older versions.
But the design is broken, is possible that some CSS file is missing or corrupted with all this troubles? I have backups of the database, might be the solution try to install an older version of database? Some ideas for fixing the problem?I have this errors in debug.log:
[23-Jan-2017 10:31:10 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Upcoming_Events_Widget in /hosting/www/kravmagaleon.com/public/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/widgets/upcoming-events.php on line 153

If you continue seeing downtime, you should get in touch with your hosting provider for help. You will receive another alert when your site is online again.
And when I try to activate ‘Extra Sidebar Widgets’ I get this error:

Excellent, thanks for the extra details.
It seems there is a name conflict between Jetpack’s new Upcoming Events Widget and another plugin that provides the same functionality on your site.
We currently know of one similar conflict with this plugin:
https://codecanyon.net/item/timetable-responsive-schedule-for-wordpress/7010836Do you happen to use this plugin on your site?
If so, I’m afraid you’ll need to keep Jetpack’s Widgets module deactivated until we release Jetpack 4.5.1 to solve this issue.
Another alternative would be to add the following to your theme’s functions.php file or to a functionality plugin to only deactivate our new Upcoming Events Widget, and nothing else:
// Search for the Upcoming Events Widget. function jeherve_upcoming_events_search( $widget ) { return strpos( $widget, 'upcoming_events_register_widgets' ) === false; } // Remove the Upcoming Events Widget. function jeherve_remove_upcoming_events_widget( $widgets ) { $widgets = array_filter( $widgets, 'jeherve_upcoming_events_search' ); return $widgets; } add_filter( 'jetpack_widgets_to_include', 'jeherve_remove_upcoming_events_widget' );
Sorry for the trouble!
Yes, I have installed this plugin in my site: https://codecanyon.net/item/timetable-responsive-schedule-for-wordpress/7010836
but I won’t to uninstall it, I like it.
I can wait for new Jetpack release, I’m looking forward to it.
Thanks for response.
Regards. -
