    Dear Sir,
I have a problem with Custom Homepage Image URL and Social Image Fallback URL. I would like to leave it empty but it’s impossible. When i try to delete the same image come back or i can only change it. The problem is that when i use addtoany to share on facebook , don’t publish the image that i have put in the wordpress article but the standard image of social image. The only solution is change the image in social image url before publish it. Thank in advance

Hi, even if you leave it empty and there are any images on your website (I assume they are), Facebook will automatically add that image. Facebook’s best practices don’t even mention possibility to have blank image for sharing. If you try to circumvent by using 1×1 pixel or any image smaller than 200x200px will get ignored. In another words, if your page has at least 1 image larger then 200x200px, if will get picked up by Facebook and other social media.

You definitively should have at least one image specified, I would suggest the fallback image, so this way you at least have a control over image published on social media — you should take into account, that someone else can share any of your published pages/posts and empty image is just not going to fly.

On the top of that, this is hurting user experience and by extension your SEO. If you have problems with mismatching images, or images not updating, use Facebook’s sharing debugger. Button Scrape again will always bring you currently used image. I hope this helps, if you have further issues just follow up here! Cheers ??

Thank you very much lebaux. But i would like when i share a post that seo framework use the image of the post automatically like yoast seo or all in one seo. Now when i share, the program use the custom image url and i don’t want it. How can i solve this? Thanks

    Hi @marchino65,

The Open Graph and Twitter images are fetched in this order, and the first match is chosen:

    Main override filter 0.
SEO Settings homepage custom social image (if home)
Post custom social image (if singular)
    Featured Image (if singular)
SEO Settings social custom fallback image
    Fallback filter 1
    Custom header (theme support)
    Fallback filter 2
    Site logo (theme support)
    Site icon (theme support)

With WooCommerce, product gallery images are added too as extras.

Compare the order above to what you’re experiencing, and I hope it should be a little clearer.

Note that The SEO Framework doesn’t pull images from the post’s content. We were planning to implement this, but it never got through while prioritizing “you’re in full-control” options.

When only one Open Graph image is outputted, you can’t select the image when sharing the article.
This is intended behavior because the Social Image URL option is a “you’re in full-control” option.

Regardless, I’ve escalated your concern on GitHub where other users can easily contribute their thoughts:

I hope this clears things up. Cheers! ??
