    Hi

I upgraded to V3.7 yesterday and I have discovered that in the WordPress editor any images that use the WordPress caption facility take up the whole of the page width and more.

They display fine on my site, but it makes editing difficult.

When I remove the caption everything is OK as it was with previous WordPress version.

This applies to images in the WordPress media gallery and the Nextgen gallery.

    Help please!

  • @chris – Thanks, that worked perfectly for me! Tiny bug but a huge annoyance.

I can verify, that as Ozz pointed out, a temporary fix is to load the non-minified JS. To do this add this line to your wp-config.php file. After the 3.7.1 upgrade you should be able to remove it.

    define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

    Hi all,

Apparently the upgrade still did not appear.. we’ve fixed this issue.

    Here’s how:
    https://labs.travelgrove.com/news/how-to-fix-wordpress-3-7-image-caption-bug/

For those not interested in all technical details, there’s a file to download/upload and that’s it.

For those who don’t want to put untrusted code to their site, there’s a step-by-step easy guide (of 9 steps) of how to fix the bug manually.

Also, for those interested there’s a detailed description of the issue, which is a simple JS cast conversion bug.

    Hope this helps,
    Regards!

Is there any update on when 3.7.1 is coming out? We were originally told it would come out over the weekend. I know there’s not a firm schedule, but this is a serious problem for some WordPress users.

I agree with all of the above users … this last update has some major issues attached with it … especially for WordPress users who are not advanced technologically.

I am getting to a point where I dread these updates – especially when your sites are working just fine, as is …. if it ain’t broke – don’t fix it.

Anyway, to whom it may concern – PLEASE let us know when to expect this problem to be resolved. I do not have the time, energy or mental acuity to tackle these problems manually.

    Thanks!

3.7.1 now appears in my updates dialog. I did the update on my test blog and it did appear to fix the problem.

Cheers for the fix guys! Works great now.

    Fixed here too.

Fantastic! … All is well again … Thank You!!

The problems with the wp-caption continue. Even in 3.7.1

The div that includes the ID of attachment and class of wp-caption doesn’t close. This means that any text immediately after the image will have an incorrect styling.

    Very annoying…!

If you cannot resolve the issue with any or all of the solutions given in this thread then you are probably not experiencing the same issue as originally raised.

Hi, my site updated to 3.7.1 and now I cannot upload any images to it. I have deactivated and reactivated all of my plugins multiple times. I have even redownloaded the new version. Right now, the plugins that I have reactivated will allow me to at least push the “add media” button while you are inside the compose post menu, but none of my pictures are showing up. I am not really sure what to do. If anyone has had a similar situation, can you please tell me what you did. Thanks in advance.
