Problem with google news sitemap (404)

Hello,

domain.com/sitemaps.xml works fine, but in the console

https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.domain.com/sitemaps/ is generated to ping google, but https://www.domain.com/sitemaps/ gives 404.

why doesn’t it ping google like this https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.domain.com/sitemaps.xml or https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.domain.com/sitemaps/news.xml

https://www.domain.com/sitemaps/ just doesn’t work (404)

by the way, I read all earlier posts related to google news sitemap and 404 errors under this support section, but none of them got solved. I think they were unable to describe the issue. ps: I also flushed permalinks…
