Problem with former URL

When I was making new site, the website was https://www.example.com/wordpress

Now, I have deleted everything from the main url(www.example.com/) and moved https://www.example.com/wordpress to https://www.example.com

I had changed the main URL from the phpmyadmin from .com/wordpress to .com/ so I could operate wp-admin

But right now, every single url goes under https://www.example.com/wordpress, which should be under https://www.example.com

How to fix that? I have tried changing functions.php by importing a new version file and it won’t work.
