Hi, I have a problem. Depending on settings, fixed widget either doesn’t work, or breaks my website. I’ll explain and show it in details:

Before last update, I had #footer as my stop element. Everything worked fine: fixed element stoped right before reaching footer. And now here is what happens:

1 – If I turn on checkbox “test new version”, and put #footer in both “custom fixed elements” and “stop elements” fields, then my footer jumps to the top of page: https://ibb.co/mch0419 . I know, that selector has to be added only in one field, but I wanted to test everything.

2 – If I turn on checkbox “test new version”, and put #footer only in “custom fixed elements” field, then needed element in sidebar doesn’t get fixed, and my footer just disappears: https://ibb.co/tBFZSNv

3 – If I turn on checkbox “test new version”, and put #footer only in “stop elements” field, then footer doesn’t disappear, but needed element doesn’t get fixed: https://ibb.co/qB5C6jH

4 – If I turn off checkbox “test new version”, and put #footer in both “custom fixed elements” and “stop elements” fields, then needed element gets fixed, but goes through my footer: https://ibb.co/1JRSf4s

5 – If I turn off checkbox “test new version”, and put #footer only in “custom fixed elements” field, then the same problem happens, as in previous example.

6 – If I turn off checkbox “test new version”, and put #footer only in “stop elements” field, then footer doens’t disappear / doesn’t get broken, and needed element get fixed. However, it stops long before reaching footer, even though there is no margin bottom put in your plugin’s settings: https://ibb.co/12SWsjM

I hope, that I’ve explained everything well!

    Hi George,

    thanks for reaching out!

Are you using the new version right now? If I am not mistaken then I see one fixed widget and no other element interfering.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi, Thomas!

I use 6.0.0 version. You probably looked only on the main page. When I wrote the post above, I noticed, that it happens only on articles, when you reach comment section almost at the bottom: https://ibb.co/TwLMp1h . Maybe this comment section is perceived by your plugin as a footer now?

Here is one of my articles: https://litfan.ru/instruktsii-sovety-lajfhaki/kak-stat-pisatelem-s-chego-nachat/

Also in some cases, if I scroll too fast to reach the bottom of page, then sidebar element doesn’t get fixed, and there is a blank space, untill I scroll up a bit, and it appears out of nowhere. At such situations, the element gets fixed normally (after it appeared), without any margin bottom: https://ibb.co/VQ1kLbL

Just in case, I’ll add: today’s update didn’t fix the problem. Even though there is fixed widget class: https://ibb.co/ct7r6h1

    Hi @giorgos93,

We made further improvements in version 6.0.2, which is available as a direct download here. I would appreciate it if you could give it a try and let me know if it resolves the issues that started after the update.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

@webzunft Hi, I downloaded this version. Unfortunately, it didn’t solve the issues. The fixed widget still stops (in articles) before reaching footer. It still stops, when I reach comment section.

Sorry, but now I have to return to old version again, so my visitors won’t notice that.

    Hey, Thomas!

I’ve just downloaded 6.0.3 version and tested it. At this time everything seems to work fine. Thanks!

The only problem, that I’ve noticed on a couple pages (both are category pages): fixed element instead of stopping, started to overlap elements, that were higher in sidebar (during fast down-up scroll). However, after I cleared my cache, the problem disappeared. But soon it reappeared. It’s probably related to some pages having short length?

Here is a gif with the problem: https://ibb.co/jM2YF3n . And here is an example, where the problem occurs: https://litfan.ru/poleznye-resursy-dlya-pisatelej/sajty-dlya-pisatelej/generatory-dlya-pisatelej/

    Hi @giorgos93,

    I hope you are well.

We fixed an issue with fixed widgets overlapping unfixed ones. Please check out version 6.0.4, which I just uploaded.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi, @webzunft!

I’ve just updated the plugin to 6.0.4. Unfortunately, it made things even worse: now EVERY page has fixed widget overlapping.

And again, fixed widget started to stop, when I reach comment section (instead of reaching footer). I tried both ‘#footer’ and ‘footer’ value.

    I have to downgrade to 6.0.3 ??

@webzunft , I’ve just noticed another bug on 6.0.3 version (it doesn’t happen every time): I tried to enter a keyword in Russian in my website’s search form. 2 posts had this keyword included. So when I started to scroll down the page with search results, then footer started to shake very fast, when I reached it with fixed widget – https://ibb.co/qFNFpfT (for some reason this .gif file, that I’ve recorded, didn’t show this shaking moves – probably because they are too fast). Maybe this bug is somehow related to short lenght of this page?

Here is an example of a page with search results: https://litfan.ru/?s=%D0%BA%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%B2

    Hi George,

thanks for letting me know about the issue. We will look into the overlapping widgets again.

About the flickering: I saw this once, but then not again. Can you reliably reproduce it every time on that page?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Thread Starter George

    (@giorgos93)

    Hi, @webzunft

No, I can’t reproduce this flickering every time. When I reload a page, then it usually disappears. But if I visit the page a bit later, then it reappears (if I remember correctly, it can sometimes switch to fixed widget overlapping instead of flickering).

Maybe it has something to do with my footer having “position: relative” rule?

Anyway, I hope, you will be able to find the reason!
