    Hi Folks,

I have just upgraded to WP 5.6 and found there is a major conflict with the Cloudinary plugin.

When I click on the “Cloudinary Upload/Inert” button the page freezes I need to re-load the page to get out of it.

Clicking the Cloudinary “Media Library” link on the sidebar, leads to a blank gray screen.

Clicking the Cloudinary “Settings” link on the sidebar worked fine.

I can select the stock WP “Media”, “Library” and “Add New” tabs as normal and the stock WP “Add Media” button on edit screen works fine.

I am using Version 1.1.12 Cloudinary and WP 5.6

Look forward to a fix asap as I cannot insert any Cloudinary media now.

    Regards and thanks,
    Angus

    Hi @hiskingdomprophecy,

    Hope you are doing well.

We released multiple versions since 1.1.12, would you mind upgrading your plugin to the v2.4.0 and let me know if that works for you.

Please make sure to deactive or uninstall the plugin before upgrading as mentioned in our documentation.

    Hope it helps.
    Best,
    Loic

    Hi @loiccloudinary

No, your reply is pretty unhelpful.

If I could have updated to your other previous V2 iterations, I would have done so.

Each time I have tried to upgrade beyond V1.1.12 it has really messed up my site, and each time I had to spend hours fixing it back to a working condition.

Little issues like all my header image are deleted from WP, all my featured images are removed, all my og images are removed, all my mp3 and mp4 files are uploaded to Cloudinary.

It seems that each time I try to upgrade, it seems your plugin thinks I want to migrate away from Cloudinary, before then copying everything I have to my Cloudinary account.

I have brought this to Cloudinary’s attention many time before, but you have never come back to me saying you will fix my issues, you only ever say you will look at them and pass them on to others. which is why I am still stuck on V1.

Can you please confirm that your v2.4.0 will NOT have these repeated issues and wipe out my site yet again?

I have no test site, only one live site.

    Look forward to your reply.
    Regards and thanks,
    Angus

@hiskingdomprophecy I can answer while Loic is offline.

Sincere apologies for the inconvenience on this.

It is advisable to use the latest version 2.4.0 of the plugin. The new version of the plugin includes new features and various bug fixes as highlighted below:

    New Features:

    • Added breakpoints support for featured images
    • Global transformations on both Categories and Tags pages are now collapsible
    • On plugin deactivation, we will ask you to share with us the reason. It’s important to us.

    Fixes and improvements:

    • Fixed an issue with syncing a deleted asset
    • Improved the mechanism for removing the Cloudinary account
    • The warning message for exceeding the annual unit plan was revised
    • Improved the Alt text syncronization from Cloudinary to WordPress
    • Fixed WPBakery error when inserting an image by the WordPress editor
    • Fixed AMP plugin conflict issue

Though, I do not see a reason upgrading should break your site. Is there a sandbox version of the website this can be tested before upgrading on the live site?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,
    Jay

    Hi @jaycloudinary

    Thanks for your information.

The instructions are very good and I managed to upgrade this time after 3 previous attempts without instructions.

I updated my desktop WP to test before attempting the live site, and as a result only 8 random files were uploaded to Cloudinary before I managed to turn off the ‘Auto Sync’. Certainly better than before ??

FYI, on my desktop version the ‘Auto Sync’ was OFF by default, but the live site was ON by default.

So while the live site version is working, my desktop version is not working correctly as I cannot access the Cloudinary library.

After the ‘Welcome to Cloudinary!’ I get the ‘Connected to Cloudinary’ confirmation.

Also, the ‘Cloudinary Dashboard’ button works and in the WP ‘Media Library’, all Cloudinary information is shown. So there is a certain level of connectivity.

However, in the post edit page, there is a problem.

The ‘Add Media’ button works and do the WP ‘Upload Files’ and ‘Media Library’ buttons, but ‘Cloudinary’ button gives me a gray screen asking ‘Please click here to log in using your username & password”

After clicking on it, usually it simply refreshes the same page.

If I close the browser and start again I and click on the ‘click here’, it takes me to the Cloudinary ‘Management Console Login’ which asks for an E-mail & password – not a username…..

Even after logged in via the ‘Management Console Login’, I still cannot access Cloudinary via the library tab.

Any ideas what is going wrong?

I am using same WP vesrsion and plugins as the live site, but using an XAMPP database.

    Regards and thanks,
    Angus

    Hi @hiskingdomprophecy

Would you mind letting us know what browser you are using on your desktop WP? We have a known issue with Safari that looks similar.

If it is the case, would you mind trying another browser and let us know if that works?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Loic,

    Welcome back! ??

Over the last many, many hours I have managed only 2x to get a connection on Firefox – my default browsers. One was just now when I retested all before replying here.

The usual browser I use for the localhost is ‘Brave’ but it will just not connect.

I have also extensively tried ‘Chrome’ and ‘Opera’ but can’t get them to work either.

I have turned off all ‘pop-up blocking’ and ‘require HTPPS’, but that does not seem to make a difference.

I feel it is a simple issue… just no idea what it is.

One thing I noticed at the last connection was that it did not reconnect after it the first connection.

    Regards and thanks,
    Angus

    Hi @hiskingdomprophecy

Thanks for getting back to me.

Usually, the Media Library used a cookie from the cloudinary.com website so when you are logged in via the website, you don’t need to log into the Media Library again.

Would you mind trying to clear your cookies on Chrome, log into the Management Console Login, and then try to access the Cloudinary tab inside the plugin?

If you inspect the page and check the console, do you have any errors logged?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Loic, @loiccloudinary

Sorry for the delay in replying. Have been a bit busy.

I cleaned out Chrome and it works correctly now and gets me to the correct page.

Thank you for your patience and advice!
