• I’m using this plugin and it half works. When an author makes a new post they can be automatically subscribed to it, but when commenting the comment form will not subscribe as it should.

I started a thread on this in the plugin’s support forum, but the plugin author has directed me here.

Also, I’m actually using the Mercury theme, but it’s a child theme and I’m pretty sure the Mercury theme only really touches on the appearance/css of things.

  • The Mercury theme is a child theme of the P2 theme.
The Mercury theme hasn’t been updated since February 26, 2015 and the P2 hasn’t been updated since July 17, 2014; so both these themes may not be compatible with the latest version of WordPress or the Comment Mail plugin, which was just updated 3 weeks ago.
Perhaps a new theme is in order.

Actually, P2 was updated in October. I don’t know why it doesn’t say that on here. That doesn’t seem that old to me, but you could have a point. Mercury is now older, and it could be interfering with some of the updates that P2 added.

Switch to the default 2016 or 2015 theme that comes with WordPress and see if the problem continues.

Because of P2’s special front-end posting that overrides some of WordPress core’s functionality, it may not be compatible with all plugins, I’m afraid.

I don’t know why it doesn’t say that on here.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to sticky posts here, but this thread explains why:

    Thanks, Kathryn. ??
