Problem with Chinese characters (Upgrading from 2.0.1 -> 2.7.1)

    As per topic title, I have an old blog that is running WP 2.0.1. The database collation is in latin_swedish_ci and was displaying Chinese characters in both posts and comments perfectly.

    I am now trying to upgrade to 2.7.1, with a db collation of utf8. The imported Chinese characters all became ???.

    I have many posts and comments and it simply isn’t possible to manually copy and paste all the foreign characters again. Is there a way to make this work?
