Problem with Attachment and Image at the same time

    Hi,

    I ran into an issue today. I had a 4MB PDF and a 250KB image attached to the same mail. The image got processed and was used as preview image and gallery. However the PDF got uploaded but no link was embedded into the post. When I just use the PDF alone in an e-mail, it gets posted as desired.

    I also tested with a small PPT and a JPG and the result is the same.

    This is strange. Any idea why an image would stop other file attachments from beeing inserted?

    I just tested this and it worked fine.

    What is your “Attachment template” setting?

    Hi,

    Attachment template is:

    I just checked, it also happens if I just use the standard attachment template.

    And it seems to be connected to the image setting “Automatically insert image gallery”. I have this set to “yes”. If I set it to no, the attachment shows up.

    Here are my settings for image:

    Featured image: yes
    Include featured image in post: no
    Automatically insert gallery: yes
    Gallery type: link
    Image location: After
    Generate Thumbnails: yes
    Start: Start at 1
    Image Placeholder: #img%#
    Template: wordpress default

    Yes you are correct. Currently the image gallery logic does not differentiate between images and non-images.

    Okay, damn…

    It would be OK if the PDFs, PPT etc would end up in the gallery, but this is not possible in WordPress I guess. What would be the best way than to have the images and other attachments both in the post.

    I tried in the beginning to just include images, but the order of images and attachments seems random. So you could have “image, image, pdf, image, ppt” that looks really strange.

    I will look at fixing the gallery issue so that only images are in the gallery and non-images are attached normally.

    Any fix yet for separating images and non images when placing gallery or using auto gallery?
