• Hi guys,

I’m not sure if the problem is even related to multisite itself but I never had this happen with a single site before and wanted to know if the problem could have any relation to the multisite installation:

I wanted to move my multisite from folder to root and always got problems because I could enter the main pages dashboard but not the second multisite or admin dashboard after moving. So I just put it all back where it was and imported the backup of my db tables. Funny enough the problem occurred there too then…

I finally found out that the domain “mysite.com” has still a 301 redirect to “www.mysite.com” in place, which caused some links to point to a wrong URL.
I had the redirect added to the .htaccess some days ago but decided to remove it today. I emptied caches and all that stuff, tried other browsers on other devices and what not. Also some “check redirect” sites show that the redirect for the domain is still in place even though it’s not in the .htaccess anymore.

I added a www. in front of several URLs in the database and in the config.php and I can finally access the dashboards again. But now I wonder what happens if the redirect decides to just delete itself. I cannot figure out what is holding it in place. It is definitely no browser caching. And there are no caching plugins in the site.

Has anybody had this issue before and can tell me what could cause the redirect to not getting removed and if it could be related to some setting in multisite?

    Thanks!
    Eve
