Problem with 2F at login page

    Hello,

    I have the free version of the plug in and i activate the 2FA.

    Every time when i’ m going to login the next time to my wp site as admin, when i insert my user name and password i receive that message

    “ERROR: an error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again”

    The only solution i found was to deactivate the plug in form file manager, then insert to my wp Dashboard and activate again the plug in. As a result the 2FA work again for the day a done that.

    Then the next day i have the same problem.

  • I had the same thing with a custom theme i created. I guess there is a admin_init hook which creates this error.

    I would rather tell the other plugin provider that their plugin produces errors related to Wordfence’s 2FA.

    Which plugin is that exactly?

    Do you happen to have any custom code or plugins on your site?

    I would also ensure that your NTP is enabled and your server’s time is synced with your phone’s time.

    yesterday when the time at server, browser and NTP was sync the login work perfect (see the message above)

    today with that value

    i try to insert with an admin user without 2fa activated and i receive the same message.

    I have no custom code and the plugin i have is

    elementor

    elementor pro

    woocommerce

    wp mail smtp

    and wordfence

    Thanks for letting me know!

    Can you please try switching to a different authenticator app?

    If that doesn’t work you please check the Secrets table for Wordfence Login Security to see if 2FA is enabled or if the table has crashed?
