    Hello,

When using your plugin and attempting to make a purchase without a company name and with a non-company VAT the following error occurs:

You must enter a valid EU VAT number to complete the purchase.

Does this only work with Company VATs?

    Thanks.

The VAT validation logic uses the VIES service, which can only validate EU VAT numbers registered in that database. It cannot validate personal tax codes, social security numbers, and such.

The company name is irrelevant, for this purpose. There is a setting, in the plugin, to require the VAT number only when a company name is entered, but, by default, the VAT number is optional. However, if it’s entered, it must be a valid EU VAT number.

If you want to allow your customers to enter VAT numbers that might not be validated, the EU VAT Assistant includes that possibility too (there’s an option in the settings). Please note that entering an invalid VAT number won’t trigger a VAT exemption.

Thank you for your response, I understand now.

    Best regards.
