• I just set up WP-eCommerce and everything works great. One problem though… When I try to upload a photo for a product, I receive the following error message.

    “Warning: copy(/home2/apc/public_html/pages//wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/product_images/neatreceipts.jpg) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home2/apc/public_html/pages/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/display-items.php on line 482

    Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home2/apc/public_html/pages//wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/product_images/thumbnails/neatreceipts.jpg) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home2/apc/public_html/pages/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/image_processing.php on line 80

    Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move ‘/tmp/phpPqso9W’ to ‘/home2/apc/public_html/pages//wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/product_images/thumbnails/neatreceipts.jpg’ in /home2/apc/public_html/pages/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/image_processing.php on line 80″

    I tried to change the permissions for the files, but no luck. Any ideas?

  • Who is your host? I may be able to help.

    I am using hostdime.com. Are you familiar with them?

    Hi Flowersa –

    I am thinking the same that Josiah must be thinking — you have to ask your host to allow you to chmod (change permissions) the directory for these photos. How did you try changing permissions? If you haven’t used “FileZilla” (a free, cross-platform FTP program) to do so, you might give it a try. There’s an illustrated tutorial for it at:
    https://webhelpermagazine.com/2007/12/firefox-tricks-oneclick-install-wordpress-themes-plugins/

    So… contact your host and ask them to allow you to set permissions. Then use something like FileZilla — https://filezilla-project.org — to make it happen.

    Contact me at WebFadds.com, if you need more help.

    As far as I know, my host allows me to changes permissions. I used Filezilla to change the permissions to 777…. At least Filezilla says the permissions are changed. Is 777 the right setting or should I be using something else?

    Thanks for all your help with this. I ended up upgrading to the beta version and it seemed to fix the problem. Feel free to check it out when you have a few minutes: https://www.advanced-productivity.com/pages
