    Hello,

For the past week or so Akismet has refused to update on my site (which uses a Twenty-Eleven-Child theme), although other plugins have updated fine both before and after the problem with Akisment started happening.

The standard update plugins page tells me before the update attempt:

“You have version 3.1.3 installed. Update to 3.1.4. View version 3.1.4 details.
Compatibility with WordPress 4.3.1: 100% (according to its author)”

    and after the failed attempt:

“An error occurred while updating Akismet: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. php.ini, views/php.ini, _inc/php.ini, _inc/img/php.ini”

I haven’t had a problem updating Akismet – or any other plugin – before this happened, this site’s been running about a year.

I haven’t modified any file permissions recently.

Does this look like a problem with this specific version of the plugin, or should I start to look at the file permissions (I’m a bit reluctant to do that, given that it’s been working up to now and other plugin updates work fine)?
