    Hello,
Since the update of the Ultimate Product Catalog plugin, I have contested problems in each of my new announcements. All apostrophes and quotation marks are appended with a slash. If I add a photo in an ad and validate! my text is also appended with a slash to each apostrophe and quotation mark.
Please … help! I have 400 ads on my site
    Thank you so much

    Hi leuviah,

It sounds like the quote/apostrophe is getting escaped. We did add extra security to several different fields in the plugin recently, so this could be related to that. Does it work if you use the HTML entity (https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_entities.asp) instead? For example, the HTML entity for an apostrophe/single quote is:

    & #039;

(There is no space between the & and the #. I just did that so it wouldn’t render.)

    Hello,
    thank you,

What is the future of this extension and WordPress?
but I have 200 announcements to review in photos and texts.
Let’s be honest, this is really not a solution! i can not do this code & # 39; to each ‘and’ and to each existing and future announcement.
you have to find a real professional solution …. seriously

Thank you in advance for listening

I didn’t mean to imply that this was the only possible permanent solution. I was just trying to figure out if that was indeed the cause of your issue. Does it work if you use the entity? If so, which field is this for? (You say text, but where do you mean? The title, the description, etc.?)

    Thanks!

    Hi.
Yes sorry, I really lacked precision. So there you have it, the problem encountered is in the description only. Slashes are added to apostrophes as soon as the text is validated.
At each validation, the slash is multiplied
Thank you very much for your interest.

Thank you for that. There is definitely sanitization that happens for the product description. We will look into it to make sure that characters such as the apostrophe are correctly escaped. In the meantime, if you do run in to a similar issue, using the HTML entity in its place should work.

I had the same problem with the apostrophes and now everything works wonderfully. Thank you for correcting that and for your support!

Hi guys aka @jaysupport, the “Single quotes and quotes are appended with a slash” problem is here again. The problem encountered in my category description and in my product text. Slashes are added to apostrophes (‘ & “) as soon as the text is validated. At each validation, the slash is 1x.

Please help. Thank you, best regards, Kim

    Hi kimilein,

What do you mean the problem is here again? Do you mean that something changed with the last plugin update? The only thing modified in the plugin update last week was related to a conflict with a page builder, so I’m not sure how that could have an effect on your issue.

There is sanitization that happens for the product description. Are you saying that, at one point, it was no longer adding slashes? Or did you do something to stop that from happening? How was it resolved for you the first time around? Did you change the way in which you were inputting these characters to make it work then? If so, what has changed since then?

Additionally, just to note, if you have an escaped character, then, each subsequent time that you update the product info and click on save, another slash will get prepended. With this in mind, I would suggest that you save your changes at the very end of updating a product.

    Hello @jaysupport,

thank you for your feedback and the detailed questions.

YOU: What do you mean the problem is here again?
How was it resolved for you the first time around?

    Me:

At that time I had read this thread (one month ago or so) I was very happy, because I’ve had this “Single quotes and quotes are appended with a slash” thingi – since a very long time. And then suddenly it was gone (corrected). So I thought you corrected that with an update at that time (one month ago, or longer).

I have done nothing to resolve it, except I tryed to avoid single quotes and quotes in categorie description and on the product site.

So yesterday I worked again on the catalogue and noticed the ‘slash thingi prob’ again.

And right, as you say: “Additionally, just to note, if you have an escaped character, then, each subsequent time that you update the product info and click on save, another slash will get prepended. With this in mind, I would suggest that you save your changes at the very end of updating a product.”

I notized that today haha… \\\’ have had a lot of the. But only in the Catalogue, not on regular sites.

Please how can I fix this?

Thanks for your time and patience.
