• I’m having some problems moving my WordPress site to a new server.

I’ve copied all the WordPress files from my old location
    – exported database from phpmyadmin
    – created new database from new server locale
    – moved all old WordPress files via FTP to new directory
    – imported new database into phpmyadmin
    – updated wp-config.php to have new database and username

Hit the website admin and still seeing WordPress install page for installing new WordPress – wp-admin/install.php

When I look at database, I see my old tables (which I renamed with a different prefix.

If I go ahead and complete install page, I get blank wordpress site and phpmyadmin ammends new database with wp_ tables on top of my original ones.

Posts are there, but nothing in the admin, but I fresh install and all plugins are inactive and only one hello post.

Did I miss something in all the tutorials on how to move WordPress.

Anyone else have or understand my error?

    Thanks ahead of time.

Thanks, but I’ve already read this post and as mentioned, that’s how I arrived a this post.

    Hello,

I know this is a late response for you, but maybe it will help someone else who has the same problem. I also had the same error as yourself (WP redirecting to the install page, although I was getting a 403 for it and using Lightspeed) and thought I had done everything correctly in wp-config.php, but in fact I hadn’t. I amended the table prefix when I didn’t need to. I realised my error, changed it back but made a typo (the prefix contains a string of random characters). Well, I didn’t spot the it immediately, so I started searching but couldn’t find a solution. I decided to check through wp-config.php again and finally spotted the typo. After correcting it, the problem was resolved; site loaded correctly and didn’t try to redirect to the install page.

    Correction – LiteSpeed.
