• I’m new to this and am doing my best to follow directions….
I am using FileZilla to install wordpress and the WP-Creativix theme.

I downloaded the theme after installing wordpress and put it in the
    WP Content/Theme folder.

When I go to administration/appearance and
to manage themes it does not have it there. When i try installing it thru
administration panel it says ” cannot find WordPress folder”. The folder should be there under “blog” in my server folder.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi

Did you by chance upload the zip file? if so, start over. Either take the folder out of the zip file and put it in on your computer’s desktop, and FTP that.

Or, easier, as of WP 3.0 you can upload the whole zip file from within the WP dashboard and have WP unzip it and find the theme.

Within the dashboard, go to Appearances/ Themes. At the top of the page you will see a tab for Install Themes.
Click it, and then click the Upload link at the left side of the page. Specify the zip file on your computer and click Upload. WP will upload your file and unzip it for you. Then you can make it the active WP theme.

I did not use a zip but I did try uploading the zip via the administrator/appearance/install and this is the “error” i got.

Unable to create directory /var/www/vhosts/lariasaunders.com/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    thanks!

using Filezilla, try to create the folder uploads in the wp-content folder. if you can, try again.

It sounds like you may be on a server with very tight file permissions

ok, turns out I had two blog folders so i deleted one and now the theme is showing up in the “manage” themes area of administration. I activated it but now when I try to upload a logo I get this “error”

Folder isn’t writable please make sure this folder is able to be written to by the web server

I looked at the permissions and they are all at 755.

    thanks!

i suggest you contact your webhost about why WP can’t write to the folder. that is not a setting you have control over.
