Problem establishing connexion to database

    Hello,

    I’m facing a problem I cannot solve even though I am not a rookie, as I already installed several WordPress blogs (https://assonautes.free.fr for instance)

    here it is:

    Fatal error: mysql_num_fields(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /mnt/140/sda/a/4/metal.sphere/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 728

    This happens during install, just after I entered the Blog’s name.

    I checked the wp-config.php file a thousand times and the information it contains is correct.

    Please help me, it drives me crazy !

    Ok I fixed the problem:
    it comes from FREE (french Hosting company) that does not support php5 it seems

    I do not understand as I am used to installing WordPress on FREE and this is the first time I am facing this.

    Anyway:

    Create a .htaccess with “php 1” in it and upload it on your server (root)

    It works for me
