I have been using this plugin for a while now and really like what is has to offer. But the other day I decided to add Sibling Page displays on a lot of my pages.
Unfortunately this caused my website to crash as it used up all of my provided resources from the webhost.
It is a bit of a shame as I liked this feature but will just have to go without.
After removing all of the sibling page displays the issue was resolved and the website was up and running again

    Hi.

Sorry you have had problems … was this when using the shortcode or the widget to display sibling items?

Also, roughly how many siblings did the pages have?

If you could let me know what the site is and which pages, it would help me to try and work out what may have been going on.

If there are lots of sibling pages and you were using the shortcode, you could try using the posts_per_page parameter that I have just added to limit the number of results returned in 1 go…

The latest version of the plugin also add the limit parameter, which may help to limit the number of related items displayed and hopefully keep memory usage down.

    You could try something like:

    [child_pages siblings="true" limit="5"]

Hi. I have found that there can be an issue with the plugin when it is generating excerpts if the current page is included in the results from the shortcode on another page … basically, you get an infinite loop.

I have come up with a fix, which I will be testing over the next few days and will be wrapped up in the next release … watch this space!

Just putting my comment here to be following these changes.
    Looking forward to it.

The new version of the plugin has been released today. It will now remove any [child_pages] shortcodes prior to creating the excerpt, which should avoid creating infinite loops …

For my case, I call every child page in every page I have. So 130 pages total of
Pages > Sub Pages > Sub-Sub Pages > Final Page.

Calling child pages for each of the 130 pages has no issue. Issue arise when calling the sibling-pages. Same issue as OP, resources gets eaten up so I’m guessing it’s a loop. I will check if this is fixed. Finger-crossed that it is.

    Hi Karif.

Yes, this should be sorted for sibling pages … I’d be grateful if you could confirm that this is working for you so that I can mark this topic as resolved.

Thank you for using CC Child Pages …
