Hi guys! I have installed Hummingbird in my pannel, however I can not deactivate it. I can access to some part of the plugin settings, but every time I try to deactivate it I get this error “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

Notice that I have also installed WP Optmize (which I think it might have some conflicts there), however, I can not deactivate any of the plugins installed now.

Any suggestions, I would appreciate a lot.

    Thanks.

    Hi @scalabria

    I hope you’re well today!

It may be some kind of a conflict indeed. We don’t have any reports of conflicts of that kind with WP Optimize but there might be something additional involved.

However, the simplest way to deactivate Hummingbird in this case would be to access site’s WordPress installation using FTP, File Manager in cPanel or similar way and then

    – go to /wp-content/plugins/ folder
    – find the “hummingbird-performance” folder
    – and rename it e.g. to “hummingbird-performance_off”

Once you go to the “plugins” page in site’s back-end after that, you should see a message that plugin was deactivated due to missing files (that’s fine actually).

If Hummingbird was set to do any kind of caching or Asset Optimization, you may need to clear server/browser cache after that but nonetheless – plugin would be deactivated.

    Kind regards,
    Adam
