Problem: Cannot use multiple folders

    Hello, I discovered a problem with the WP Original Media Path plugin, or maybe it is something that just cannot be done within WordPress.

    I have dozens of photos I would like to store in specific folders. I used this plugin to create the first one:

    Upload Folder: photos/landscapes
Full URL Path: https://mysite.com/photos/landscapes

    I then wrote a post about my landscape photos and inserted them as a gallery and they showed up fine. Then I changed the media upload settings as follows:

    Upload Folder: photos/portraits
Full URL Path: https://mysite.com/photos/portraits

    And this also worked fine for a post I wrote that included a gallery of my portrait photos, but when I went back to check the post I made about landscapes none of the photos showed up! I checked the path of these images in the Media Library and all of my landscape photos were now pointing to the portraits folder!

    I checked via FTP to see if the folders and photos were all where I uploaded them and they were.

    So is it possible to have multiple folders by using this plugin? I hope the answer is yes because it would make it much easier to organize hundreds of images.

    Unfortunately the plugin WP Original Media not only changes the location of the folder ‘uploads’ folder wp-content.

    WordPress then apply it legit file management within it. There are currently only two possible settings:
    – ‘Organize my files sent in monthly and annual records’ example ‘2014/01/’
    – Or in the upload folder.

    Your request can not be done with this plugin.
    I recommend finding a htaccess rule.

    Hello and thank you for the fast response! After doing some more research I found a solution that seems to be working. First I use your plugin to create a parent folder called “photos” where I want to store my images. This folder location can never change or the problem I described above will occur.

    Then I use another plugin called “Custom Upload Dir” (see link below) that creates a sub-folder within “photos” that will store my images. The sub-folder can be named with whatever taxonomy I want, which can be selected in the plugins settings panel. In my case I am using “categories”, so when I upload images a new sub-folder will be created within the “photos” folder with the same name as the category the post is assigned to. I now have a nice organized way of uploading and storing my photos!

    The combination of your plugin and Custom Upload Dir seems to be working!
