I met the following errors right after upgrading to WP 3.9:

Warning: mysql_query(): Access denied for user ”@’localhost’ (using password: NO) in D:\MySite\wp-content\plugins\wp-optimize\wp-optimize-common.php on line 332

Warning: mysql_query(): A link to the server could not be established in D:\MySite\wp-content\plugins\wp-optimize\wp-optimize-common.php on line 332

Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in D:\MySite\wp-content\plugins\wp-optimize\wp-optimize-common.php on line 333

Interestingly, I tried other database optimzing plugins with the same errors.

  • We didn’t find this error on production sites after updating for WP v3.9
But for local development servers like XAMPP, MAMP we got the same errors with WP v3.9RC1 and reported one week back.
Let us know, are you getting the same error or bug on production sites?
As of now, it seams to be related to word press installation on home or local severs, but not for production sites.

Yes, it is my production site. I use WP-optimize on a regular basis. Today I upgraded to WP 3.83, and WP-optimize ran well. About one hour later, I upgraded to WP 3.9, and the errors occurred, and the database cannot be shown. I then tried with other DB optimizing plugins. Interestingly, I got the same errors messages. I suspect it is due to some changes in WP 3.9.

Glad to report version 1.7.2 works now! BTW, my site is no Windows server. Thanks for your prompt help.

is there a reason why this was removed from wordpress
