Problem adding images

    I am trying to add an image to a gallery. I have named an image norfolk_fishing_holiday.jpg. When I add the image to the gallery it uploads correctly but when I go into manage gallery it has renamed it to 1_norfolk_fishing_holiday.jpg. If I try and add it again it renames it to 2_norfolk_fishing_holiday.jpg.Have you any idea why this is doing this please?

    Hi @mikes46,

    That’s how NextGen’s file system works in order to keep copies of the same named images in the same folder. It wouldn’t replace the already existing images if uploading same named images but just rename these.

    This is an expected behavior

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply. I have checked that folder with Filezilla FTP and the file name definitely does not exist in that folder.

    It makes me think that the original image entry got somehow cached into the database and respectively it created a regularly renamed image name for the subsequent upload.

    OK, what do I do about this problem please as i’m having this problem with a few images.

    Apologies, how are you uploading your photos?
    Are you uploading the same photo to the same gallery?
    In that case, it will upload a new image with a different name.
    The original should remain the same.
