I installed and activated the WP maintenance plugin for a client and then created an editor account to allow him to login and edit some posts. When I checked the login, I saw the plugin was preventing the Editor level from viewing the WP dashboard, so I changed the setting to allow Editor level Access. However, now it’s not allowing ADMIN access to the dashboard or control panel so I can’t access the plugin settings to disable or change anything.

Shouldn’t the admin access rights be integral…allowing users at Editor or ABOVE access the dashboard?

How do I get back in as admin? Is there a way to disable the plugin without accessing the dashboard? Do I have a login directly to the plugin control panel outside of wordpress?

  • The plugin create the difference on login on active maintenance mode, but it not change the capabilities of each role. The roles editor, subscriber have the on default the access to the dashbaord. If you set this role for a access to backend, then also to the Dashboard.
You can hide this with custom code or the plugin Adminimize.
