Thank you for your kind words.

I can consider that, or at least add a custom filter so that developers can hook into it.

Can I ask what your use case is, i.e. when would you want to display a sidebar with content with private taxonomy terms?

I am using the private taxonomy “Buyer’s Journey Stage” (“stage” in short) internally only – hence private i.s.o. public. I only want to use it for logic.

The Use Case is to display a certain sidebar (with a text widget containing a call-to-action) ONLY when the term of the private taxonomy “stage” is “Awareness” AND the category is “SEO” for instance.

I would be very great if you could support private taxonomies.

I think you could replace the check for all taxonomies on 'public' => true with a check on 'show_in_nav_menus' => true.
