Private replies are still displayed in BuddyPress Activity Streams

Ah, that’s definitely not good. I haven’t personally tested with BuddyPress but I will try and do that soon.

Just wondering if you’ve had a chance to take a look at this? I think it’s becoming pretty common to use bbPress with BuddyPress.

No, sorry, I haven’t had a chance to take a look.

I follow this instruction for a while:

https://bbpress.org/forums/profile/vanillalounge/replies/

and I change the return value to false.

This is my only solution for now.
I know, this is not private reply compliant.
With this filter, any forum posts will not reported in the activity streams.
