If you go to Links > Edit > Save, there is an option “Keep this link private”

I would expect this to keep links hidden from anonymous users, but allow users with the appropriate permissions to see them. But this isn’t happening, they don’t show up even when I am logged in as an administrator.

I’m using the default Kubrick theme and only have one plugin installed.

Can somebody advise me what might be causing this and which files are involved in this please?

    Thanks

  • Administration > Links > Add New says:

    Keep this link private
Click this checkbox to keep the Link private. This will make the link not visible when Links (Blogrolls) are displayed on your site.

Thanks, but I have selected that, but this causes the link to be hidden from everyone even when you are logged in as an administrator.

I would like to have a group of links that are only seen by administrators and editors.

    Is this possible?

I have to concur with the original poster. I tried making a couple of my links private and that hid them from view unless I was in the link admin page. They were not visible on the sidebar, even though I was logged in.

Given that private posts and pages can be seen by administrators and editors, it seems inconsistant that private links can’t be.

I agree. It stands to reason that private links would be visible to administrators and editors, but not the general user.

Sorry to bring up an old post but is this working as intended?

I too came here to mention that I set some links as private so that when I am logged in as the administrator I expected to see them in the sidebar just for me to see but I don’t. I thought that was how it was supposed to work, at least that is what makes sense to me.

Has anyone heard from the WordPress Guru’s and Dev’s about this not working as we had expected it to?
