• Right everyone, i appreciate anyone who can help me with this difficult issue. I want to be able to publish a post to my website. I don’t want to publish it to the front page. I want to be able to insert it somewhere deep in a category like the science section or preferably not in any category just privately with public access? Can someone help me do this. ive tried everything including back dating it etc.

  • Hi,

Slightly confused as to what you are trying to achieve but it seems like you just want to create a page thats maybe password protected or private?

That way it is not assigned to a category or anything and you can just access it directly. If you need more security on it then password protect it and give whoever you want the password.

    Hope that helps

I want to create a page that is private and not published on the magazine but still accessible to the public. without a password. if that is not possible then just published and public but not on front page.

Well like I said just create a Page rather than a Post. It has to be published to be visible to the public but you dont necessarily need to reference it anywhere on the site which means you can hand out the link to the page directly to the people you want to access it.

If the page has nothing to do with the magazine but you deem it important then perhaps another website and separate domain would be the best option?

one last thing is there a way to send someone a draft link of a post before published?

    Hi,

No if its a draft only you as a logged in admin would be able to visit the link and see the draft content or “preview”.

You could give them some sort of access to the admin, perhaps a contributor role or create a custom role with a plugin?

If its simply for them to review the post then Id probably just email them the text?
