    bbpress 2.5.4
    private groups 2.2

I’m testing bbpress with Private groups and have setup 2 private forums assigned to group1 and 2 respectively and 1 public.

With the user assigned to neither groups the only forum seen is the public one. After assigning user to either group the user still only sees the public one unless I check “Click to activate forum visibility”, after which all private forums are visible and if then viewed a 404 is given.

    Is there something I’m missing?
Does uninstalling private groups reset all database entries? So I might start fresh.

    Forgot…
    WP – 371
theme is custom i.e. my own (nothing special at this stage).

ok, I can’t replicate that with those settings.

I haven’t tried 3.7.1, but can’t particularly see this as an issue.

Can you try switching to a default theme such as twentyfourteen, and disable all plugins except bbpress and private groups, and see if the issue is still there.

If it goes away, then re-enable the plugins one at a time to see which is conflicting. then change back theme. Hopefully that should give us the area that needs fixing

nothing further heard, so presume fixed

I am having the same issue with the widget. Private forums will not show up for logged in users that are members of the groups that the forums belong to. Have played with almost every setting I can find.

Widget (Private Groups) Forums List: Forums have tried Parent Forum ID values: “0” and “any” but neither have made a difference.

    Forum

    • Setting the forum type to “Private” makes the forum visible to everybody, but only members can access it
    • Setting it to Hidden, anyone who is a site admin can see forum, but only group members can access it. The forum is NOT visible to any non-site-admins, regardless of group membership.
    • Setting it to Public, makes visible and accessible to anyone, regardless of “Forum Groups’ setting

    Private Group Settings

    • Forum Visibility: inactive
    • Freshness Message: inactive

Even after changing the forum role to participant in User Management, the user still cannot see the forums in the widget.
If I go to the “Forums” page, I get “Oh Bother! No forums were found here”

There may be some error in the logic that determines what forums should be displayed with regard to group membership.

Sorry, I got derailed with this. But I’m looking into it again…

And in looking at it again I notice that the private forums are now displaying for the group members as they should. I did try to reset everything and start again. So that must have fixed something. Thanks.
