• Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone has run into the issue where files in a closed Intranet (BuddyDrive folder privacy setting = Restricted to group) are publicly accessible when using the Share URL?

I also looked at the BuddyDrive file specific setting and it’s set to inherit from parent which is Restricted to group.

The weird thing is… I have 2 groups, both set to restrict file sharing to their respective groups only. For the example above, the SHARE url files are publicly accessible. For the second, the SHARE url files are restricted from public access.

    Hello!
That’s a new one. Just to confirm that I understand correctly, you have a file in a folder in a group that is restricted that is NOT shareable and one with the same settings in a folder in a group that IS shareable? The important part of this in my eyes is the “folder” part. Can you confirm this?

Hey! Thanks for getting back to me.

Group 1, file share link is private (not accessible) when pasting URL, file privacy setting = restricted to group. Folder setting = no folder.

Group 2, file share link is public (accessible) when pasting URL, file privacy setting = Privacy of this item rely on its parent folder, Folder setting = restricted to group.

In both cases the privacy setting is set to private. So to answer your question directly, it’s not a folder to folder situation.

Okay. That makes more sense. I haven’t seen this issue before. I’ve opened an issue on Github for you and will be investigating. Thanks for using BuddyDrive!
