• Hi,
My wordpress blog is private. But my readers are always saying they have forgotten their password. And if they have to reset it, they tend to just give up and not get into my blog. Is there any other way for my users to be recognized?

I don’t like the fact that I MUST right now make it private due to reasons I won’t get into, because I want it to be easy for my readers to access and I do very much want to keep collecting comments on it by readers. Is there anything I can do to make it easier for my readers to access, and to make the process more streamlined?

    Thanks!

PS: where do I see what version of wp i’m using? I have no idea!

In the Right Now pane of your site’s Dashboard.

As to your private site, you really can’t have it both way. Either it can only be accessed by registered users using their own login or it can be accessed by everyone. What role are you applying to these users?

the right “what” pane of the dashboard?

the users are not adminstrators which seems to be the only other option? I just go under “invite new users” and I invite them… I don’t assign any role other than the regular one they get by signing up.

the right “what” pane of the dashboard?

Right Now. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Right Now”.

other than the regular one they get by signing up

Which is? Please bear in mind that the default user role is configurable on a per-site basis, so we have no idea what is “regular” on your site.

there is nothing at top right when i’m on dashboard page that says screen options or “right now”

I see now where I see the “role”…. the role that my readers have is called “viewer”

OK, now I see the screen options… the “right now” box is clicked but I don’t see where/how that tells me what version of WP?

this is what it shows in “right now”… none of these speak to a wordpress version…. as far as I can tell…?

How do any of those things tell me what version of word press it is? I know the blog is private, I made it private, but that’s not a “version”…?

Well… I am going to ask again as I’m still wondering…

My wordpress blog is private. But my readers are always saying they have forgotten their password. And if they have to reset it, they tend to just give up and not get into my blog. Is there any other way for my users to be recognized?
