Privacy / Members

I am considering strongly moving my blog from b2evo to WordPress. However the one thing I can’t find out is, so I have two questions.
1) Does wordpress support a members login or registration which gives them access to posts marked or tagged accordingly.
2) Can posts be marked accordingly.

If anyone can answer these questions or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
