• Good Day,

    Love your plugin! It helped pull my GTMetrix scores way up without having to do all the leg work myself. Thanks!

    But…. my pagespeed insight scores plummeted; especially on mobile which is now red and google hates that. It states only 7% of prioritized visible content is above the fold and about the same on desktop. I don’t remember that showing up before installing AO. Now when home page loads, there’s just a black background for a second or two before slider appears.

    Been working on trying to fix this, but no joy. I have all sections checked in AO, including Inline all CSS and Save aggregated script/css. While I’m decent with coding and changing things, not sure what will fix this issue. Looking over the source page, can’t really determine what to do. Never encountered this over the years…

    I’m using the Avada theme and this beast has made me work to get things how I wanted them. Wouldn’t be surprised if it is messing up things with AO. Though I cannot be certain. I have Cloudflare and SuperCacher through SiteGround. Deactivated/turned off and flushed cache on everything and still get the low prioritized visible content on pagespeed insights.

    Would appreciate if you could steer me in the right direction on how to fix this. Thanks!

    Charly

    Note: WP, Theme (child used) and plugins all up-to-date

    Instead of “inline all CSS” (which is what causes that warning) try “inline & defere CSS”, cfr. AO’s FAQ for more info on how to proceed.

    happy optimizing,

    Thanks for the fast reply Frank!

    I assumed that would be the answer and I had watch the video on how to do this. It should be simple enough. Yet, I can’t find the link text/css media aggregated css in my home page source to use; it seems not to exist.

    Have I set AO settings incorrectly? Do I need to do something else in AO before this will appear? Or perhaps it is indeed Avada causing this?

    Thanks!

    that’s because you have “inline all CSS” active ??

    It is not checked in settings ?? I did a major flush on siteground and turned off SuperCacher. I purged WP cache twice. Then I Saved and Purged AO twice. Also deleted 1% AO cache in admin bar. No other cache plugins are installed. I do have CloudFlare.

    So would that mean that AO aggregated css/js isn’t working properly for me? Like something in Avada theme is preventing it? I’m at a loss as to what caused my home page to all of a sudden take forever to load and be blank for a second or two. ??

    It was not like that previous to installing AO and SGCacher in WP and enabling Cloudflare…

    wanted to re-check @charlyibc, but I currently can’t access your site due to a TLS/SSL connection setup (tested in firefox and chrome);

    An error occurred during a connection to https://www.charlymcconnell.photography. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

    webpagetest.org isn’t able to connect either; https://www.webpagetest.org/result/180410_CB_c3991d2aca8a55eef73f943c264ca107/

    once that works we can try to troubleshoot the “inline all CSS”-issue ??

    Thread Starter CharlyIBC

    (@charlyibc)

    Yes my apologies. I turned off CF to see if that was the culprit and when I enabled it my site when down. Couldn’t get into my CF account, so just disabled for now. Oh the joys of all that is good, but can be bad. LOL

    FYI, only on at moment is AO. SuperCacher and CloudFlare are off. ??

    well, I now see

    <link type="text/css" media="all" href="https://www.charlymcconnell.photography/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/css/autoptimize_669bd9506dd5a43e683e042997cd4393.css" rel="stylesheet" />

    as expected when “inline all CSS” is not active, so you can continue with the “inline & defer” challenge ??

    Thread Starter CharlyIBC

    (@charlyibc)

    Thanks for posting that! I still couldn’t find it viewing in FireFox LOL Hopefully the rest of this is easy ??

    Really appreciate your time and assistance! Now off to accomplish a better pagespeed insight score. Will update as needed

    I followed the video on Inline and defer CSS. Now pagespeed insights shows 2 of the AO cache .css files under Eliminate Render Blocking ??

    Not sure what caused this or how to fix it. Any ideas? Thanks!!

    well, that means that the generated critical CSS is not good enough, maybe try some other site to generate it (some are linked in AO’s FAQ)?

    hope this helps,
    frank
