  • I experienced this as well. I think that this is because the print is triggered on the “Thank You for your order” page being viewed. If a customer orders something, received “thank you…” then closes switches tabs, apps or whatever, if they come back to the window and it causes that page to reload then it will retrigger a print. i verified that this is what happened in my case by checking the webserver access log to see a logged in customer reviewing the thank you page. this is a behaviour of the plugin.

    Hi

Yes @paulrollo is completely correct about the cause. Also, this can cause orders not to print if someone closes their browser/tab (or just closes their laptop) immediately after placing an order but before the thankyou page has been shown to them.
I am re-working the plugin currently to support a different trigger for printing.

If you are willing to test, then you can install a pre-release sample version of the Star CloudPRNT for WooCommerce plugin which resolves the problems associated with the Thank You hook, by triggering print jobs when an order is assigned the “Processing” status instead.

Hey @lawrenceowen Is this version in beta or ready to go LIVE? Can I install this on a production environment? Love all of the new features!! Thanks for all the work!

@notion9 This is a beta/sample level release officially, I have a few more features to add before making a final release and it does need to go through additional testing. But we have so many request recently for updates that I wanted to make it available for feedback as soon as possible, and for those who absolutely need these features.

You are free to use it in production if you are comfortable with it, my feeling is that the risk is low, and probably this is more stable than the current ‘official’ version, thanks to the better job triggering method.

@welikebrands I decided to make the beta open to all, in order to get feedback before release and because so many people are requesting updates. So I can send you the link on this forum.
You can download the sample version from https://vault.star-emea.com/s/pKdTw69BCH9rnro, which includes some change notes.

One point to recognise is that orders are now printed when their status is changed to “Processing”. Usually this is the status of new orders in WooCommerce, but if you have changed this configuration at all then orders may not print at all. I will add some additional configuration options before the official release so that you will be able to choose the printing trigger that best suits your site.

I am also having these same issues where we will get an old order that prints or a random order will print twice. I am interested in the beta version, but we have it set so that ALL orders that process are marked as Completed…not processing. Will the beta version not work for us right now then?

@agridesigns yes you are right, that would be a problem.
I have a further updated sample available now at https://vault.star-emea.com/f/13051832 which allows you to configure the printing trigger. You can now also print on order completed or with the original Thank You trigger. Just check the settings for options.

    Goodmorning,

We using the new plugin now for a week.
    Till now it works fine.. no problems (-;

    Daniel

I don’t think I have a Star account because I downloaded the plugin with www.remarpro.com. I clicked on the link for the plugin and I don’t see a way to create an account and I can’t get to the updated plugin without logging in. Are you able to help? Thanks!

    (@lawrenceowen)

@agridesigns There is no need for a Star account, but the links that I have been posting to sample releases are temporary and expire after a few weeks. Please use https://vault.star-emea.com/s/FCaPDGG3C5A4ssr to download it, this link will remain live until the end of August, but which time I hope for a new official release.
    Hope this helps.

for our ecommerce platform order auto printing use. However, the machine doesn’t work properly with the Star CloudPRNT for woocommerce plugin.. It keeps printing out old orders and many copies rather than 1 copy for each order once we have placed the second order
Is there any way to solve it

@gxc122 Are you in contact with your local Star office support? it may be easier in this case. We can provide alternative methods of printing but, depending on the cause, they may suffer from some of the same issues.

    • The most common cause of re-printing issues is an unreliable internet connection. If there are any disconnection events then the printer may not be able to inform your WooCommerce site that the print was completed, and so the job will remain in the queue and get reprinted. The most common cause of this is using WiFi in a kitchen environment which can be extremely difficult to optimise. If you are on Wifi, and able to connect the printer directly by cable then please try that as a test.
    • Another possibility is local server configuration or conflict with another WordPress plugin. Print jobs are stored as files in a folder on your site. If a server configuration, or other plugin is in any way preventing those files from being deleted when the printer confirms that they have printed, then again they will remain in the queue and be re-printed.

The sheer number of WordPress hosting options, variety of plugins and configuration flexibility makes it impossible to guarantee that our plugin will work perfectly with all sites. So if the issue is site related, then we will attempt to help you of course, but can also provide alternative methods of printing orders that do not depend on a plugin.

However if the issue is a network reliability problem, then any alternative is likely to suffer from similar problems, and so it will be important to address that first.

In either case, I think that it will be easier for you to communicate with your Star office support team directly, as it is difficult to di any serious diagnostics via the forum. They will need to know which printer model you have, and also if the re-printing happens every time, how many re-prints to you typically see etc.

If you aren’t sure of your local Star office support contact, then please let me know where you are based.
