    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

The TableTools Extension should indeed be a good solution to this. Just download, install and activate it like a regular WordPress plugin and then extend the Shortcode that you are using to display those tables with that extra parameter as mentioned on the Extension’s web page.

That is my problem, I am literally not sure what to put in the shortcode. It is not really clear…or I am just really clueless! LOL For example:
If I want a print button to show up on this table [table id=allergies /] , using the DataTables extension here: https://www.datatables.net/extensions/tabletools/buttons what do I enter in the shortcode…because I am just not seeing it. Thank you for your help!

DataTables doesn’t exactly install like a plugin at all…I had to manually load the files, and it does not show up in the plugins, so it does not “activate”. Maybe this is my issue?

    Hi,

ah, now I see what you mean ?? Installing the “raw” JS files from the DataTables website will indeed not work. You will instead need to install a special version of this, packaged as a TablePress Extension. For details on that (you’ll also find the mentioned Shortcode parameter changes there) please see https://tablepress.org/extensions/datatables-tabletools/

Again…sorry I am just slow I guess. The link you gave did work and I got the extension to load and activated the ‘plugin’. However, it says ‘[table id=123 datatables_tabletools=”true” /]’ is an example of the shortcode to use…when I add the last part to my table, nothing really happens. Is there something else that I need to tweak in the code…all I want is a print button on each table. Thank you for your patience with me! LOL

Do I need to enter a Custom Command on each table for the print button?

Never mind I figured it out finally…I got all of the stupid buttons on there now…and I don’t even care. LOL Thank you for your help.

For anyone else that is stuck…you do have to make sure, on each table, you have the first check mark of the “Features of the Data Tables JavaScript Library” section selected “Use DataTables: Use the following features of the DataTables JavaScript library with this table:”

Even if you don’t use any of the other options on the list. Although this one is done automatically ( Allow the visitor to change the number of rows shown when using pagination.)

    Otherwise…this extension does not work.

    Hi,

good to hear that you got this work! And sorry for not mentioning that the “Use DataTables” checkbox has to be turned on… I had noticed that you had turned it of for your tables, but then forgot about it…

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
