    Trying to add products to store and getting a timeout error.

    Here is the text of the error that comes up on Printful:
    “While adding product to Your store we encountered connection timeout!

    Check that Your server has enought system resources available to handle the request in less than 90 seconds, try pushing product with less variants and try increasing available system resources, if possible.

    If the error persists feel free to contact our support by providing the code below.

    CODE: G15179888”

    I’ve had this problem at different times with Printful on 2 or 3 of my sites that are all using the same system and here are all of the things that I’ve tried as of now with this site:

    I’ve ruled out other plug-ins by deactivating everything except WooCommerce & Printful.
    I’m using the same theme that I use on other sites without an issue.

    The first time I contacted GoDaddy, I was told that an Object Cache was the issue so they had me disable those files by changing the name. This seemed to work, but then I started having the same issue again.

    I contacted GoDaddy again and was told to add a .user.ini file. I did that and was able to upload 2 products without a problem. The 3rd one (minutes later) gave me the error again and I haven’t been able to upload since. Not even with a shirt in just 2 colors.

    This is what I currently have inside my .user.ini. file (the last two lines were added after the 2nd call with GoDaddy & some Google searches:

    upload_max_filesize = 192M
    memory_limit = 356M
    max_execution_time = 360
    post_max_size = 950M
    max_input_time = 360
    max_input_vars = 5000
    set_time_limit = 600

    I really need some help sorting this issue out as soon as possible! Has anyone else found a way to fix this issue?

    Hey,

    Karlis from Printful here.

    First of all, thanks for the detailed description! I checked your stores logs on Printful and it looks your server is very consistently failing to respond in time to product pushes. This means that it’s not a bug with Printful, but with your WordPress/hosting environment. I’m sorry to say, that if you server does not respond we simply can’t do anything about that – it’s out of our hands. Only your hosting company can help in this case.

    We have seen a number of cases with issues like this and it usually comes down to having a hood hosting. While very affordable, Goddady has a lot of problems. For e-commerce store, a professional level hosting is a must. We usually recommend our customers to go with WP Engine. It’s not cheap, but it’s one of the best options out there.

    Thank you for the response, Karlis.
    Unfortunately, I’m working on a shoestring budget right now and trying to get this project started. Is there any specific information that you can give me about what to look for in a host? I have been using GoDaddy for a very long time and for the most part have been happy with their service until these recent inconsistencies. I just don’t want to spend a lot of money on anything that I don’t need or that isn’t really going to be any better. I’m an old print designer that has managed to teach myself what I needed to build these websites, but I’m not a techie by any means! I’d like to make a more informed choice. If you have any specific recommendations about the technical requirements, I’d sincerely appreciate it.

    Thanks again

    Hey,

    It’s less about specific metrics that hosting providers list on their marketing pages and more about speed that they can provide. For the cheaper hosting plans your server will not get very much resources and thus problems like this one – where product push fails because the sever simply does not respond are possible.

    One of the entry level hosting options that Printful recommends is siteground.com. You can make a test site there for a month and see if improves things. You should be able to get one month for like $10. https://www.siteground.com/features/wordpress-hosting.htm
