This means that the printer is not able to connect with your server. The first priority is to check that you have the printer connected to your network and have verified that the local internet connection is working. After that, there are three common causes for this issue:
- the most common issue, is a server with very strict https rules combined with older mC-Print firmware. Please make sure that your printer has at least version 3.0 firmware, which added support for stronger TLS encryption. The easiest way to update the firmware is using the “MC-Print Utility” app on a phone/tablet, which you can install from the Google Play or Apple App stores
- Less common, but a bit harder to resolve is that some ISP’s provide routers that will block outgoing connections for devices that they do not recognise. Sometimes they will work for a while but then get blocked after some time by the routers traffic monitoring feature. Please check your router logs and configuration, and you may need to add the printer to an Allow list to ensure that it is always permitted to access the internet.
- Finally, the least likely (and often hardest to resolve) issue is that the printer is being blocked by your server for some reason other that https security policy. This is largely outside of our ability to help your with, but you may want to check with your ISP to see if they have any services that could potentially block the printer. This can also happen if your web site is behind a traffic filtering service such as Cloudflare.
Please check your printer firmware level first, usually that will resolve the issue and there is no need to worry about deeper network issues.
