Hello. I am trying to change the single header image that appears on every page with an individual one for each page. When I select customize > header media I see that there is an checkbox that is checked that should allow the featured image to override the hero image. It also looks just fine in this mode.
    Example: https://imgur.com/SDY1RyA

After I publish this, however, it simple adds the feature image below the hero image.
    Example: https://imgur.com/kVfoBr1

I also tried to remove the hero image and keep the featured image just as a test and then this happens: https://imgur.com/YhOBrAQ

So if someone can tell me how to go about changing the hero image for each page I would very much appreciate it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @zerojjc,

I just did some testing with Mins v1.1.2 and Primer v1.8.3 and did not encounter the same issue.

You’ll want to ensure that you have both Mins v1.1.2 (which it looks like you do) and Primer v1.8.3 (I can’t see what version you have installed). You’ll also want to make sure you haven’t customized any of the templates, or written any custom functions that would output that featured image on the page (and not in the banner).

Hello Evan, thank you for the quick reply. It appears I do have the latest updated versions that you mentioned.

I also have not edited the functions and don’t believe anyone else has before me. Here is a link to the functions.php code: https://codeshare.io/5zbW6D

Without any customizations, and the option checked in the customizer, the featured image should take the place of the hero background image. All I can recommend, without having access to the site myself, is to deactivate your active plugins and re-test to see if that helps resolve the issue. If so, then there may be a conflict with a plugin that you have installed (Beaver Builder perhaps).

Thank you, I will try and see if I can find the culprit.

    Hi @zerojjc,

Can you try unchecking the option in the customizer and saving the settings, and then re-checking the option and saving the settings once more to test if that helps resolve the issue?

    Best,
    Evan

OMG That worked! Lol, I thought I tried that but I guess I hadn’t. Thanks!

No problem at all. Thank you for reporting the issue here, there is actually a bug in the theme code. I am working on patching that up for the next release.

I’d like to give a shout out to Jamie on the Beaver Builder support team who reached out to me and confirmed it was not a Beaver Builder conflict, by setting up a test instance on her end and even reporting back the temporary fix that I posted above.

This should be resolved in the next release as I am working on getting things patched up now.

    Thanks again!

You guys are great. I previously saw someone with the same issue unanswered in the WordPress forum before I started this thread. I just went ahead and posted this fix in their thread as well.

Awesome, thank you so much @zerojjc. I do have a fix in place that we’re going to merge in and get released. For reference, to anyone who may stumble across this thread, the pull request can be found here: https://github.com/godaddy/wp-primer-theme/pull/258

And a more in-depth report of the bug can be found here: https://github.com/godaddy/wp-primer-theme/issues/257

I hope you have a great weekend!
