Primary nav questions: parent menu item and search field

How can I make the parent menu items in my primary nav actionable (link to self-named landing page, i.e. “Portfolio” links to /portfolio.php)?

I’ve had to add a separate menu option to address this for now, which really isn’t best practice.

Also, trying to add a search field inline with nav, but the global style rules are forcing my search field to break, pushing my nav container beyond the original design height.

Any easy fixes for this?
