I just noticed this morning that my Primary Menu Header (the hamburger menu) isn’t opening. Can anyone please help.

[Edit: I have now also noticed that the Search box at the top (near menu) is also not working. Further, the Sticky Header option is not working either, although it is checked. When I go to the Customize bar under Appearance, things seem fine, albeit a bit delayed]

  • Hi,
Are you still experiencing this issue? Do you have a link to your site? Try to disable all plugins first to see if this resolves the issue.

    Hey @bianca205,

I deactivated all my plugins and after troubleshooting found that the AMP plugin was causing the issue. The Chaplin theme does not seem compatible with AMP and so I have now deactivated the plugin ??

I see. Although I don’t have an instant solution to this (not so familiar with AMP yet), you can try out the Twenty Twenty theme instead which is a fork of Chaplin (or investigate the changes it has made to be compatible with AMP) . According to this website Twenty Twenty should be compatible with AMP. With the Twentig Plugin you might be able to approach the look and feel of Chaplin. If AMP is not that important than deactivating is the other option. Or creating a child theme to make the necessary changes for compatibility. Goodluck.

I agree. I have looked at the Twenty Twenty theme and the more recent Twenty Twenty-one theme. Both look AMP ready but I have not tried them yet. Perhaps I should take your suggestion ??

The issue is I have spent considerable time setting my site up with Chaplin theme. And, I’m not IT-literate at all…and so, I wouldn’t have the faintest idea on how to fix the plugin or create a child theme ??

I guess I will have no choice but change the theme if Chaplin starts giving me more issues.

Don’t get me wrong. Chaplin is a fantastic theme, just not great (yet?) to work with AMP. Also note that AMP is still evolving (with lots of changes) rapidly. If it’s not necessary to use it, Chaplin is a solid choice. If it has to do with speed there’s a lot of other stuff you can / need to do.

I agree. I like Chaplin theme but also wish it had more functionalities. I am an academic researcher and have been looking for an elegant and simple, yet professional and functional theme. At the end of the day, I want a site that works effectively for users and performs well (e.g., loads fast, ranks well on search engines, etc).

To be honest, I haven’t found any themes that fit the bill. Do you have themes in particular that you’d recommend?

Thanks for the link, I will check it out! The web is constantly evolving and so are the web builders and tools. I’m hoping I can keep up with them.
