• Hi Yoastians,
I recently posted in the Hestia theme support forum about the following problem:
I have a small hierarchy of categories on my blog, with a top-level category “sleep-apnea” which has sub-categories “cpap” and “vivos”. Some posts are in both the “cpap” and “vivos” category, and others are in all 3.
When the category archives for “vivos” is displayed, I’m noticing that the category displayed for each post is not always the primary category. You can see this in my vivos category archive, where the first four posts in the archives are in primary category “vivos” but Hestia displays “cpap” instead; they are in the “cpap” category too because the posts also discuss that topic, but that’s not their primary category and I would prefer Hestia to display the primary category.
I’ve since realised that the ability to select a primary category is a feature added by Yoast SEO. Is this something that could be fixed within Yoast SEO without modifying the theme, or should selecting a primary category be made a WordPress core feature?
    Thanks,
    Graham
